You must have been thinking about how Reliance Jio is going to disrupt the Telecom Industry and how it will benefit us all in the long run. But have you ever wondered what other changes this is going to bring about? What other industries it is going to effect?
On Friday 21st July 2017, Reliance Industries headed by Mr Mukesh Ambani held their 40th Annual General Meeting at Birla Matushri Sabhagar in Mumbai. It was a grand affair with several members in attendance and many others watching the meeting being broadcast live across the country. During the meeting, Mr Ambani made some big announcements regarding Reliance Jio and other services. Now, in case you are wondering why someone from who is in the habit of talking about Digital Marketing Courses in Pune is suddenly talking about Reliance Industries, well, read on…
During the meeting, Mr Ambani also unveiled the Reliance Jio 4G VoLTE enabled feature phone which will be available for an effective price of Rs 0. Which means a 4G phone will now soon be available in the hands of each and every person in the country.
Starting 15th August this year, I am declaring Digital Freedom for all feature phone users
Mukesh Ambani said at the group’s annual general meeting.
Thier plan is to have the Jio phone cover 90% of India’s population within a short span of time and provide Digital Independence to all. They also plan to introduce NFC communication to that same phone as soon as possible. Have you understood the implications of this?
This will have a paradigm shift in the way businesses are operating. Local business will soon need to start having a digital presence. Websites will need to be optimized for mobile and other tablets. More and more vendors will begin accepting digital payments as currency.
In the midst of all this will be the digital marketing experts riding perhaps the biggest wave this country will witness towards becoming more and more digitally native. If internet access is provided to 99% of this country and not just any internet service but 4G internet service is able to reach every corner of the country than the marketing will need to reach every corner as well. More of the ad budget will have to be shifted to digital marketing. Smaller players will be able to compete with the larger giants on a more level playing field.
If you haven’t gone digital yet, then you need to. You will need to pull up your socks and run to catch up with the ones already on a digital platform. This change will not occur soon though because before such a cultural shift to occur there will need to be a process of education to the general public. But the India public is very quick at adapting to new technologies, so don’t think you have too much time.
You will have to update your digital skills as soon as possible. If you have to learn about digital marketing, either for your company or for your own business, learn from the best. Digital Skills has trainers that have been practising and teaching digital marketing for the last 16 years. Over the career in digital marketing education, they have taught more than 9000 students and have enabled the careers of several others.
